I agree where mail is concerned but they are useful for news.
I have replicated my NG trees under Local Folders and any messages
posted that I want to keep I copy to the relevant Local folder.
Remember, news messages expire both the local headers and the bodies on
the server.
P.S. Before anyone posts to tell me; yes, I know about Google Groups,
Yahoo etc.
