Goto Edit/Preferences menu and create an account for your mail server. Goto server settings and tell it to check every X minutes. As far as I know, there is no start-up option or so to do this from the cmd line. And the New Mail icon stays up on my win2000 machine until I read it. It doesn't disappear by itself. Chris.
