There is no such limitation/specification written JUST for this
newsgroup. 72 characters per line is the  standard for most mail and
news applications AFAIK.

It's only annoying if it presents a problem. And so far it's not a
problem in Mozilla. What IS annoying is not letting the application do
the wrapping itself rather than arbitrarily hitting ENTER to effect a
CR/LF. This causes ragged sentences, etc.

now. :-)

There's a reason for the 8 less than 80 but I won't go there now.

Well, that's all fine and dandy if we're in a private discussion and we
agree on the line length. However, we're in a public forum and the
default 72 should be respected. When we're in YOUR house you can arrange
the furniture to your liking .... :-)
