Before Brian Heinrich gives me a list of newsgroups I should be posting
this on I want him to know that in the past I did post this problem on
those newsgroups and was basically told that it wasn't considered to be
a problem. However, this problem has existed in Netscape and Mozilla for
quite some time now, and I know from talking with others that I am not
the only one who considers it to be a problem.

I submitted a query at bugzilla, but found no bugs that seemed to match
mine exactly, so here goes:

Whenever I am trying to download an e-mail with an attachment of 500Kb
or larger it takes a large chunk of time to accomplish the task
(sometimes not accomplishing it at all). I just tried to receive three
emails with attachments that equaled 2.5MB total. The first email had an
attachment of 900KB. After waiting 5 minutes (honestly) I checked my POP
server and the 1st email was not even half finished being transferred to
Mail/News. I cancelled the transfer and opened Microsoft Entourage.
Entourage took a grand total of 45 seconds to download all three
e-mails. If this was just a one-time occurance I would not be upset.
However, this is a common occurance, and not just with my computer. To
make matters worse, if I am able to successfully get the emails into
Mail/News any action such as, saving or moving to another folder, takes
almost as long as the initial download. In other email programs such as
Entourage, once the email has been successfully downloaded it can be
shuffled around just as quickly as if it was just a simple small text
message.

Is this an issue whos solution is being actively pursued or am I getting
ready to hit yet another brick wall?

In case you need it these are my system specs.

Powermac G4 500MHz

Mac OS 9.22
