Unfortunately, Mozilla doesn't support filtering existing folders nor does it support select all in message search result's window. The workaround/hack that I have used successfully was move the folder's file to where Moz normally downloads mail, set up filters to tell Mozilla to move all mail with a Date before a certain date to a special folder, tell Mozilla to get mail[this took ~10 minutes for me with a ~80MB file with approxiamately 19,000 messages], find the archive folder in your profile and move it somewhere safe[or leave it there if you wish...]. Of course this may not be adviseable if Mozilla retrieves mail from another machine[I could just disconnect from the internet so I didn't have to worry about mail being delivered while I was doing this, and the transfer rate[~35MB/s] wasn't the limiting factor]
