I can read my mail. I can read newsgroups. I can post messages to
newsgroups. But when I "send" mail the following happens:
1) CPU usage jumps to 100%, with Mozilla at 99%.
2) Task Manager shows Mozilla unresponsive
So I go to kill Mozilla and the Windows bug reporter sends this to
Microsoft as part of its diagnostics:
C:\DOCUME~1\STEVEN~1.SPO\LOCALS~1\Temp\{SOME FILE NAME HERE}
This directory doesn't appear when I bring the C Drive up under Explorer,
BTW. I do have a C:\Documents and Settings\Steven.SPOCK\Temp, FWIW.
I'm using build 1.2a 2002091014. I've tried down-grading back to where I
was, and even older builds, but no joy. I reported this as bug # 169567.
On a possibly related note, I get a similar failure when installing over
the internet, instead of downloading the installer with all the files in a
zip.
1) CPU usage jumps to 100%, with Mozilla at 99%.
2) Task Manager shows Mozilla setup unresponsive.
The setup dialog box shows it's trying to reference path:
C:\DOCUME~1\STEVEN~1.SPO\LOCALS~1\Temp\ns-temp\xpcom.xpi
These 2 error messages were sent to Microsoft when I killed the
process as part of the technical info gathered:
C:\DOCUME~1\STEVEN~1.SPO\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER386.tmp.dir00\SETUP.EXE.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\STEVEN~1.SPO\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER386.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt
These issues surfaced when I upgraded to 1.2a. Before that everything was
fine. Since I can install by downloading a comlete zip, I'm not overly
worried about the second issue. It's the inability to send email that's
driving my nuts (hello yahoo account...). Any suggestions?
