Unfortunately, I'm not posting a solution - rather asking if there is a way to do this for Mozilla as well? I've had quite a few crashes using Mozilla (mostly when moving ~500 messages in one go), and have consequently ended up with some folders that contain two copies of each message. Thanks, Iain.
