Hi
Now for an easy question: How do you get Warpzilla - either version 0.6
or 0.8.1 - to use Netscape Plugins. I've copied all files from my
\netscape\program\plugins to the \mozilla\bin\plugins folder. I then
removed Win16 plugin references and then removed other files from this
folder until I could get Warpzilla to display the "about: plugins" page
without crashing. The plugin which was causing Warpzilla to crash when
trying to display the "about: plugins" page is npqflk.dll, the QuickTime
movie plugin from the QuickMotion 2.0 package.
Right. OK. So Warpzilla recognises Netscape plugins (mainly). How do you
get Warpzilla to use them?
I tried opening an mpg file from hard disk - hard work using Warpzilla
0.8.1 as it's File Open Dialog limits your selection to the drive that
Warpzilla is installed on, I ended up typing the Drive:\Path\Filename in
the Location URL entry box. Having worked so hard I was rewarded with a
Downloading Dialog that said "This file has mime type
application/octet-streaming and cannot be viewed using Mozilla..." and
offered the choice of Saving to disk or Open using...
So, I've got the plugins installed, The "about: plugins" page displays
the details OK, but the plugins don't work with Mozilla? I guess I've
got something wrong. Or has Mozilla? I thought an mpg file mime type was
a video/mpg not application/octet-streaming?
Checking Edit, Preferences, Helper Applications tells me that only
text/html are recognised. In Netscape 4.61 it seems that the OS/2
multimedia plugins are listed in the Helper Applications. Is this right?
In fact the only plugin that works so far is the OS/2 Flash 4 plugin -
well the About box works, I have not tried the plugin on a live website.
Neither mpg or avi video files can be viewed, wav and mid files cannot
be played? Why? Anyone know the answer, Please?
Regards
Pete
