At least for the 'final' version I think that the compression should not be done
by Joe User, just as a matter of convenience.
It is also possible to have the smaller download and the compression: An example
is the installer for PMView2000 for OS/2. It calls lxlite to compress the
executable on site. (I guess that the reason is different, may have something to do
with
personalization of the executable; the compression is done only after the user name
and
key are entered).
Maybe this latter is not worth the trouble, I would guess that the size
difference for the distribution is close to negligible (?) Calling
lxlite during the build process might be easier.
