I'm hoping someone will take a moment to answer some (probably stupid)
questions.

I installed Warpzilla 0.9.5 (with Shockwave Flash) from the Hobbes
website 2 days ago and then subscribed to this newsgroup. After perusing
the topics, it is apparent that many of the posters here are
professionals in the PC software business... I am simply a retired home
user of Warp4 (14.062_W4 level) and a newbie at PC software, although I
once was a mainframe systems engineer, so I understand some of the
issues and jargon. I have written some applications for myself, using
IBM's old Extended Services, that would make it very time-consuming to
switch to a Microsoft operating system.

I sought out Warpzilla because of difficulties I was having with a
particular forum website, which kept brushing off my problem reports by
saying they only support Netscape 4.7 and above. In short, there were
some pages that never seemed to fully load, and kept the processor
running for minutes on end while requiring a lot of "stop" and "reload"
button hits to get the page to show up on the display. Warpzilla
operates much better on that website, speeding the initial list of
topics from over 20 seconds down to less than 4 seconds, for example,
and the problems I was having there are now gone. That was great, and it
would be nice if I could stick with Warpzilla as my browser (hard to use
both Netscape and Warpzilla because of my frequent Bookmark changes).
But, I have run into some other issues and need to ask some questions:

1. Should I try a more recent version of Warpzilla? Which one?

2. I keep getting a message on some websites: "Netscape cannot find the
Plugin Downloader Plugin"

3. I cannot manipulate bookmarks by clicking on entries and dragging
the entry to change the order of the entries (I used that a lot while
following eBay items). Cut & paste of bookmarks is very cumbersome.

4. I see references to using Profile Wizard and Profile manager, but
when I click on those icons (created as part of the install) I simply
get a Warpzilla browser screen with my chosen "home" website page. Same
if I try command line "mozilla -ProfileManager"

5. I see a lot of email on this newsgroup references Java 1.3 and tcpip
4.3... I am still on 1.1.8 and 4.0, the versions on the last "WarpUp"
cdrom (issued around this time last year). Without a corporate
subscription to IBM's support system, is there any way for me to upgrade
these products?

and

5.a. I also see references to "eCs", which I assume is IBM's current
corporate offering for ecommerce..... even if I can get them, can I use
the later Java and tcpip versions with Warp4 or are they only for use
with eCs? Do I also need later versions of IBMCOM and MPTN?

6. Some websites need to download Java applets (ex: http://www.sbdsl.com
) but they do not get downloaded... I can see that the "advanced" page
of Warpzilla preferences has checked "Enable Java" and "Enable
JavaScript for Navigator", but no place to give a path to the Java
directory like NS 4.61. How can I tell if Java is working?

7. Should I try to install 4.61 versions of plugins with this version of
Warpzilla, or are there just not any plugins available besides Shockwave
Flash?

Thanks,
Wayne
