It happenned a second time. I lost my mouse again (I've now bypassed the KVM switch) and when I rebooted, the bookmarks and history were gone. Unfortunately, I did not check before restarting Mozilla to see if the files had been deleted from the profile directory or just rewritten as empty. However, I did check the delete directory and they weren't there, so I surmise that they were rewritten empty instead of deleted. One of the things I find interesting is that I had two Navigator windows open. Using Alt-f and then Exit closed BOTH of them, not just the one I was exiting. After this occurred the second time, I tried to recreate it multiple time not using the mouse (even though it was working after a reboot) to close Mozilla, but it would always leave the bookmarks and history intact.
