Everything is on HPFS. What I am finding out is that after a hard reboot (reset because c-a-d didn't work) because of a hang, chkdsk "wiped" out these files. I can sort of under stand the history file being open and trashed if the system crashes, but I haven't added a bookmark in ages, so even though it has been opened by Mozilla, it should not have been rewritten at all and therefore wouldn't have a allocation error to correct that causes the file to be effectively empty. Also, in the original case, I was able to close Mozilla with alt-f/x, so both the bookmark and history files should have been successfully rewritten. Keith -- So many stupid people. So few comets.
