I keep getting a mozilla NNTP authorization error ..."a News (NNTP)
error occurred: Authentication error" whenever I try to post or reply to
a post (after my first post of the day). I am hoping this "first" post
of the day will work and that someone will be able to help me.

I am probably doing something stupid, or there is a dll file that's at
the wrong level, or some such. I am on Warp4 fixpack 15 level and
Mozilla 1.1A dated 6/11/02.

I think it may be related to a second problem I'm having since I
switched to this 1.1A release: I frequently use a website that has a
forum. When I click the reply button on a posting on that website, the
site sends me a formatted page that contains a field at the top
containing the topic title of the post I'm replying to, then a large
text-entry block, then a couple of fields used to contain my userid and
password. When I first get this screen, the topic title line is filled
in correctly, as is my userid, but the password field is blank
(actually, password is not a required entry, it's only needed if you
want the option of coming back later and revising your reply after it's
been posted). After I fill in the text of my reply and click on the
"send" button, I get a small superimposed (Mozilla) window asking for my
password... and at this point I note that the topic title on the larger
window has now been changed... it now contains whatever text I
previously did an Edit/Copy on (ie, the correct info that was in the
field has been replaced with garbage), so if I fill in my password and
click on enter, my reply post now gets sent to the website with an
incorrect topic title.

I am thinking this same thing is happening to me when I try to post to a
newsgroup.... the password manager (or whatever its called) intervenes
and askes me for a userid, then for a password, then my post fails with
that NNTP authentication error. For some reason, the very first
newsgroup post I try after bringing up Mozilla works, and I don't get
asked for a userid or password at all. All subsequent attempts to
post/compose result in my being asked for the userid and password, and
then the post fails. That's why I'm thinking there may be a relationship
of the newsgroup problem to the website problem.... both problems occur
after I'm asked for a password (a password which should have already
been there after the first time I provided it).

I do not have these problems with Netscape 4.61, nor did I have them
with Mozilla 1.0. I tried erasing all saved passwords ("Tools/Password
manager/Mange stored Passwords") to no avail.
I have tried to ensure the 1.1A newsgroup settings are the same as for
Netscape 4.61, but the settings screens are all different.... seems like
you had to tell Netscape more than 1.1A has entry fields for.

Any ideas?

If I have to go back to Mozilla 1.0 (I still have the folders with 1.0
in them), what do I have to do to get that working again (ie, should I
erase the 1.1A folders and unpack 1.0 again?)?

Thanks in advance,
  Wayne
