Does the salting dir get added when the user specifies an explicit path 
during creation? It shouldn't. (We're just trying to prevent guessing of 
locations, which is easy, when the user accepts all defaults, but a 
user-specified path is hard to guess anyways.) If it does, file a bug.

Maybe you can also find a way to write the registry file directly or at 
least manipulate its entires. Don't ask me how, though.
