How about mozilla? Is security a primary goal?

In terms of goals, I'd perceive Mozilla as not having a security goal. It's certainly conscious of the security needs, and it takes it fairly seriously, but, like all browsers, security isn't the focus for delivery of the app. I.e., the phishing epidemic is almost totally ignored in the browser community.

Not withstanding that the browser is the best
place to deal with phishing...

In this sense, Mozilla is like Linux - conscious
of security, but no particular goal in that area.

Unlike say the BSDs where security *is* a goal
(for OpenBSD, security is *the* goal), and
unsecure practices are by process and custom
rooted out and destroyed. This can be seen
in the hacking figures, where Linux boxes get
hacked about 1000 times more frequently than
BSD boxes.
