1. Industry can make a lot of money with the internet
2. to be accurate, a lot of sites providing illegal mp3s have been shut 
down.

And what about the "file transfer protocol" FTP?

And why guns and other weapons designed for nothing but to kill people 
aren't illegal?
It's a crazy world we're living in

I think somebody should design a file sharing program that really controls 
the copyright issue with mp3s. At this moment there are 2 ways to get 
released music: 1. Buy expensive record, from which the artist gets only few 
dimes. 2. Get it as an mp3, and nobody gets payed (except the phone company 
and ISP). Either way the artist really doesn't get the money from his work
