I'm pretty sure that MC means 'multichannel', so the software there
is for coding more than 2 channels.

LSF is for 'low sampling frequency extensions', 
probably meaning that the software in the LSF directory
supports some low sampling frequency extensions :-)

OK, I just looked st the dist10/Readme.1st file
and it explains it all. Read it.
