Hi all,
just wondering if anyone has any pointers or general info on cleaning
up sampled audio.
Eventually, I'll be archiving a lot of my vinyl collection onto CD-R,
(using LAME naturally :) so I'll be sampling it all in via a soundcard (I'll get
a decent card before I'll actually start this).
On the Win9x platform there seem to be quite a few programs for
"cleaning up" sampled audio. Hiss/crackle/pop removal from sampled audio tapes
and vinyl.
This can be taken off-list as soon as anyone gets sick of it, but it is
related to psychoacoustics and the removal/detection of obvious "noise" signals.

Questions:
        - Are there any open source noise removal programs.
        - Is there hardcore proprietary knowledge at the heart of noise removal
techniques?
        - Anyone know in general what sort of techniques are used for removing
tape hiss/wow/flutter etc? Median filters? fft and freq analysis and psy
models? FIRs? IIRs?

mail to me or the list.
later
mike
