Hi Everyone,

I just have a couple of questions:

a) where do the tone-masking-noise and noise-masking-tone values (29 and 6 dB) come
from and
b) why are they suddenly 18 and 6 dB for MPEG-2 AAC???

Thanks in advance,

I will try to dig up the reference for those NMT/TMN values, but
it is a conference proceedings and I've never been able to find the
actual paper.

That's interesting that AAC goes down to 18db (resulting in
more masking). I just did a quick VBR test - using the AAC
values lowerd the average bitrate by 2kbs, so it seems to be a small
effect.

Mark
