hi all, On holidays at the moment so I implemented a VBR mode for toolame. There's a writeup of the VBR mode on http://www.uq.net.au/~zzmcheng/layer2/README.VBR There's a bunch of Layer2 VBR files at http://www.cryogen.com/mikecheng Feel free to feedback on playability in your mpeg player and quality of different files. (My crappo soundcard isn't good for making comparisons, and even though I have a CD-R, my shelf-system CD is busted. *sigh* ) mp3_check seems to work OK on them most of the time giving correct values for VBR_HIGH, VBR_LOW and VBR_AVERAGE. Two problems I've had with mp3_check - the '-vv' option only prints info for one frame (i'm under the impression it should do a dump for every frame) - mp3_check shows some VBR mp2s as having a *negative* average bitrate.
