good point!  so no reason to set a limit at 320kbs, but probably
a good idea to print a warning about it.

Maybe the free format output in lame is buggy?  my version of
mpglib can handle it (which doesn't prove anything), so the only
indication that it is correctly formatted is that freeamp
can play back the streams.  freeamp also correctly prints
the bitrate, so I take this as a good sign that the format is
correct, but most players simply cannot handle it.
