Hi,

Sorry for this not totally MP3-encoder-related mail, but I
was wondering
if anyone had some pointers to web sites, books etc. I could
check out to learn some basics on audio coding. I'm
particularly
interested in the mathematical side of it.

I want to start simple, eg. writing small programs to
downsample, halve
sample size etc.

Basically introductory tutorials, any sort of books which
describe in detail
basic audio compression like ADPCM would be really helpful.
Preferably
stuff that doesn't assume you have knowledge of audio coding
terminology
etc. (I have no idea what a scalefactor is, etc. :)
