What you said is misleading.  Audio uses all 2352 bytes (which what you wrote 
could be read differently).  The ECC and subchannel information on an audio 
disc is in addition to the 2352 bytes.

*Data* (yellowbook) uses 2048 bytes for user data and the rest for 
header/position/and an extra layer of error correction.  Yeloowbook came 
*after* redbook audio; CDs were not originally envisioned as a data format.
