Hmmm...  That's actually kind of tricky.  Neither is really appropriate in
the phrase above, though I suppose 'say' would be less wrong sounding.

Both say and tell imply speaking, but tell has more of the sense of the
conveying information part of speaking (tell a story, tell time), while say
is more connected with the physicality of speech and/or opinion (?) (what
did/would you say, he said/she said).  To tell is to recount or recall; to
say is, broadly, everything else, but especially to opine or speak out loud.
I'm just generalizing, though - there may be many exceptions.

Anyway, I'd _say_, "First, please note that it's been a long time since I
really looked at the Lame source, so I may (perhaps) misspeak myself," or,
"...so I may make some misstatements (mistakes)."  The grammar of the former
is beyond my current ability for analysis; the latter is pretty
straightforward subjunctive, just with a simpler/more generic verb.
