Just curious about why I can't compile anything later than
383beta. Sometime since then (383 didn't have the separate
library, did it?), and I've tried 3.86B as well as a few
different CVS snapshots, refuse to compile. I can create the
static library, but gcc (more properly ld, I'd guess) is now
spewing forth messages about undefined references, starting
with main().
I thought maybe it was all locked up in the new .a lib -
but even running 'gcc -L. -lmp3lame lame.o -o lame' came
back with the dire explanation that there were no functions
to be found in the source.
I'm assuming you guys can compile the source you're putting
up? Why can't I? What changed b/w 3.83 & 3.86? The .a lib, I
noticed - hasn't anyone else seen this? Am I the only one?
gcc 2.95.2 W/pgcc 2.95.3 patch
libc5.4.44 (Slackware 4.0 - libc6 runtime, not static libs)
binutils 2.9.1.0.19a
kernel 2.2.14 (compiled W/above compiler)
I can capture and attach the output from 'make lame' if
you'd like - it's just big, and I can tell you it contains
two lines for every function in lame (well, okay - I haven't
counted - but it seems likely) all say "in _start; / undefined
reference to X" about a page and a half, and I user 80x132 col
fonts. :-(
Can anybody clue me in to what I might be missing?
