I think that you're not alone in this case. Let me guess: you're encoding
large AVIs from a video source which is 720pixels wide, and your files are
about 1H30 to 2H longs ;-) ?

At first it would be nice to have a --l3wav option in lame allowing to
output an mp3 with a wav header.
About the ACM codec, there is none yet. It will perhaps be easier to write
one when the ACM Vorbis codec will be finished, I only hope that vorbis guys
are not waiting the same thing about lame.
