Hi all
One month ago I installed my first Linux (SuSE 7.3 on i386 with AMD K6-2
500 with 128 MB RAM). Before that time I encoded my mp3 files with
razorlame. To encode a few GB of wav files I tried the script mlame and
in my opinion it shows a strange behavior:
Because mlame doesn't care if I type a different path for the
output-file (encodes nevertheless in the source-directory) I gave the
following command:
mlame -r -o "V 2 --vbr-new -b 128 -B 256 -c -p" *.wav *.mp3
Then I left my home for several hours. When I came back, the encoding of
the wav files was finished. But instead of stopping encoding at all it
started to encode the .mp3 files again, resulting in files with the
ending *.mp3.mp3. In the commandline I specified the sourcefiles as
*.wav and this string was no longer present in the encoded files and
therefore they should not be recognized as a target for encoding (?).
- do you have an idea, how I can solve this problen? Can you solve the
problem (if it is a bug)?
- is there a loss of quality by encoding a mp3-file again (i.e. should I
rip and encode my music again)?
With best regards
Ciao
Marco
P.S.: I use lame 3.89 beta
