Hi,

First off, let me apologize if this has already been beaten to death on
the mailing list.

Anyhow, I recently became aware of the test case bundled with LAME. When
I build LAME 3.89beta using GCC 3.0.2 and have CFLAGS set to just -O2,
'make test' shows 415 bytes' difference. If I build using -O1, I get only
20 bytes' difference.

Two questions:

1) Would there be any noticeable difference in the quality of output
produced by the O2-compiled LAME vs. the O1-compiled version?

2) Any ideas what optimization -O2 activates that causes LAME to produce
different output?

Thanks!
