Hi,
I just compiled lame 3.91 under mandrake 8.1 with gcc 2.96 on an AMD
athalon tbird.
I have liked what I have seen so far. However, lame is having problems
with the -h or any thing above -q 7 (-q 7 is fine) when encoding wav
files to mp3. The encoding is fine for the first few % (3 - 10), and
then it has this error:
LAME version 3.91 (http://www.mp3dev.org/)
Using polyphase lowpass filter, transition band: 15115 Hz - 15648 Hz
Encoding Various - Blink 182 Whats My Age Again.wav
to Blink 182 Whats My Age Again.mp3
Encoding as 44.1 kHz 128 kbps j-stereo MPEG-1 Layer III (11x) qval=2

It proceded to do this for the rest of the file, and pops out something
that looks like an mp3, However, xmms 1.2.5 fails on it (so hard some
times it dumps core).
Am I missing something as a user? It looks a little like it's trying to
use variable bit rate, so I tried to force it to use -b 160 but that
failed too.
Suggestions? Comments?
