Subject: Clicks & pops with Lame at MP3 devices

===8<==============Original message text===============
Hi!

When I play files encoded by lame v3.91 and the v3.92 on my MP3 discman
(Roadstar PCD-3245MPT) I get a lot of clicks & pops scattered through the
song. The files play fine on my Winamp.

Apparently, this problem was noticed on some other MP3 devices as well, and
the last version that did not have that problem was 3.87. I quote (taken
from http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/7323/2002/2/0/7729517/ ):

SUBJECT: [Lame-dev] Lame 3.89 up and clicks+pops

Hi, I've been testing Lame encoder since a little while and I found out
that the newest versions create some clicking and popings in my songs. Here
is how my testings were done :

I ripped a wave file with Audiograbber and stored it somewhere
I compress this wave file with different versions of lame and blade
encoder, fraunhauffer, etc.
I write a CD-R disc and bring it my my car MP3 Player (Sony CDX-MP450X)

When I listen to the songs, I can clearly ear some popings with the files
created with the Lame encoder 3.89+, the last version that didn't create
those popings was 3.87. The other encoders are also clear from popings.

Thanks for your time, and I will be happy to dome some further testings for
you guys

Vincent Levesque

Any ideas?!? :-(

Best regards,
         Arsen Torbarina
