Could you explain the purpose? It's not immediately apparent to those of us not well
versed in the inner workings of the MP3 encoding process.
I personally never called it a "bug", but someone here mentioned that it was going to
be "fixed" which made me think it was at least an unintended feature.
I've always blamed the inflexible firmware in the Sony for this, and I think it's sad
that the ZS-X3CP is not firmware upgradeable like the Rio Volt. An MP3 boombox with
nearly 200 songs on a CD can be very convienent for impromptu get togethers, the beach
etc.
I will continue to target disks for this device because of that. I'm very confident
that the Volt will play anything I throw at it, so never a problem there. But since
I've started using VBR a lot, it's really no longer an issue for me. Even before,
there were several workarounds for the Sony, which I pointed out.
