| The other day however I was in a rush to encode a couple of Cd's, so I
used
| Xing, (as you know its a screaming fast encoder)

Fast, but worstest on the world. Doesnot know short blocks and that says
all.

| My question is? does the lame encoder do something weird with the xing
| encoder? Like stuff around with the registries or something. Does the
lame
| encoders settings actually change or alter the xing encoder as well?
| Something is up with xng, cause it has never encoded so high before.

No, LAME does not attack windows register, nor any programs. maybe you set
option for stereo instead of joint stereo in xing.

And finally dont forget that you use windows. For example my MSIE few weeks
ago know only one codepage - russian (win-1259) instead of czech
(win-1250). Purging registry, settings, still russian. It is nothing else
than Microsoft you like! Great Linux! Faster, rock-stable, unvirusable.

Regards JL.
