I have a number of files created with lame 3.92 using the --r3mix
preset. They all sound great. The problem is when I reencode them down
for streaming. It doesn't matter if I reencode on the fly or reencode
first. The effect reminds me of a phase shifter commonly used on a
guitar. You can actually hear it here with winamp, xmms or whatever
you like here: http://caroline.pop4.net:8004 The stream is 56k @
44.1KHz - which should sound good.
I've tried enabling and disabling the low and high pass filters, letting
lame decide what filtering to use, choosing my own, strict ISO, quality
levels 5, 2 and 0, AMD_3DNOW, various psy and ath settings, all with no
success.
Yesterday for the first time I tried using toolame and didn't have the
effect, but I need to have this built into ices and not have the highs
cut off like toolame seems to insist on. Cutting the highs off in lame
doesn't help the problem.
The current settings on the stream referenced above are:
Source: encoded simply with --r3mix
Stream:
56 kbits
44.1 KHz
2 channels
Quality 2
Strict ISO
Lowpass Off
Highpass - lame decides
AMD_3DNOW
everything else is at their defaults.
Source and Stream are both lame 3.92.
The end result can't be over 56kbits at 44.1 KHz. Does anyone have any
idea what's causing this and what I can do to fix it?
Thanks in advance!
Vince.
