You shouldn't rely on Xine as an "authority" on MPEG.  It's rougher than
the BMK Kfir board, IMHO.  

If you run a BMK file through, say, Teco Software's Bitrate Viewer, it
will properly identify it as MPEG2.  (Yes, it's a Windows program.  Deal
with it.  :) )
