Similar to the issues we already had with clang, and as easy to fix. (I grabbed the first GCC 5.x release candidate -- while the tarball [1] is named 5.1.0-RC-20150412*, it identifies as GCC 5.0.1 (prerelease), in accordance with *the subject* of its announcement message [2], while GCC's home page [3] and the message itself again speak of 5.1.)
After fixing 'configure', MPIR's test suite passes for me, at least on a Haswell CPU (on which MPIR decides to use '-march=k8' though ;-) ).
