Since I have brought up the issue of diverse programming on local cable before, including my two year mini-campaign for BBC America, I thought I'd thank Time Warner Cable publicly for adding it to their upcoming digital cable line up. My first crusade 5 years ago was for the International Channel and the World Radio Network. I would still like to see some Canadian programming on cable as well as more shows besides the French news on MTN. For the World Radio Network I had a used satellite receiver from some guy I found on the Internet donated to the schools so they could put the audio for the World Radio Network <http://www.wrn.org> on 49B (seems to be 47B as well now). If you are interested in ensuring broad access to global media in Minneapolis, I encourage you to become an active consumer as well. It may take a few years, but sooner or later something gives. It is also great to see the impact of cable modems on DSL pricing from Qwest (we get up to 640K downloads at 256K price). Now if we could figure out a way for the government and community organizations in this city to jointing develop a community wide information service to take advantage of our growing Internet infrastructure!
