David states:
"John Moir gave several weeks notice."
Yes officially John Moir gave over a month's notice
but the fact of the matter is that most people saw the
handwriting on the wall last spring when Mr. Moir went
very public with his concerns about TIF and the city's
indebtedness reaching dangerous levels. The fact that
shortly afterward Mr. Moir stopped talking to the
press told me that he was muzzled by the Mayor's
office and the City Coordinator and that one could
have reasonably expected at that time that Mr. Moir
would be leaving.\
I don't mean to suggest that Mr. Moir was in any way
fired or asked to leave. To the contrary, I suspect
that accomodations were made. To a degree he seemed to
have support in a polite power struggle with Mr.
Cramer of the MCDA. In the end I suspect Mr. Moir had
just had enough.
At any rate, the city coordinator ought to have been
quietly searching for a replacement long before the
other shoe came crashing to the floor. Maybe David is
right that Mr. Christenson is wired for the spot and
that this period between now and Thanksgiving is only
a test drive to see if he fits. I hope he's good
whomever he is.
This of course is all supposition on my part and
should be taken with the grain of salt supposition
deserves.
