I have known Betty McCollum for many years, as she was both my next-door neighbor and
my state representative when I lived in North St. Paul.

If people have never heard of her, visit the state legislature's web site and look up
her district

to see the number of bills she has authored and co-authored over her long career,
including but not limited to: POW/MIA legislation, environmental legislation, fair
pricing for prescription drugs, mandatory health plan coverage for ovarian cancer
screening, labeling of genetically engineered foods, campaign finance reform, and the
placement of an honorary plaque on the capital mall commemorating veterans wounded in
combat.

Please don't presume that she is called "qualified" only because of her stance on the
one issue you have heard mentioned along with her name (abortion). There are many
other issues which she has already, in my opinion, demonstrated her leadership.
