In case you missed it last week on Minnesota Public Radio, there's still a chance to listen to Senator Allan Spear's lecture to the Steven J. Schochet Center for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Studies at the University of Minnesota. It was the first annual Allan Spear Lecture, set up in honor of Allan's contributions to our community. Go to http://news.mpr.org/programs/midday/listings/md001009.html and click on Hour 2 of Tuesday, October 10 for a replay. It was a remarkable lecture, displaying Spear's intellectual rigor, his deep knowledge of history and political science and his passion for human rights. I need add that, although I've known Senator Spear for years, I was impressed with how articulate he was. It was a delight to listen to -- an accolade not often applied to university lectures.
