My life if full of contradictions I understand the suburban bashing on this
list as well as in real life. And I also know there is real urban hating out
there too. I spent one awful year attending meetings in Dakota County when
there was debate about whether or not a new airport should be built there.
Believe me the anger and hate were palpable - some typical statements: "Don't
bring those city problems here.", "I moved to get away from all that." You
could interpret that last to mean anything you want.

On the other hand, I grew up in a village of 150 in southwestern Minnesota.
I have lived in Minneapolis the last 32 years. And you know what? I would
be happy in living in either one of those two places. You really do make
your own life. Sure in Iona, Minnesota the choice of restaurants would be
nil and you would find yourself driving at least 10 miles to a movie. But
there would be other compensations. I attended a centennial celebration in
Iona a few years back where the entire town had worked to put on a
celebration that rivaled any event I've attended in the city. You just knew
that every person in that place had played a role in the year long planning
and implementation. Weddings and funerals are attended by all just as a part
of life.

So if you are enjoying living where you want to live, why be concerned about
what the person in the next jurisdiction thinks?

I guess I just feel that
