in sort of a casual way without prejudging the police
but still expressing my thoughts and questions:
i noticed in today's PIPress that Michael Ivory, the
man wounded in the police operation last week was re-
leased from custody yesterday morning at 10:40 am
with-
out being charged by the Ramsey County Attorney. the
story does not make clear one way or another whether
the county attorney might press charges after an
investigation.
what struck me as so signifigant about this "sting"
operation was the fact stated in one of our local
papers that reporters or police kept referring to the
half pound of marijuana supposed to change hands as
narcotics. now, i'm not entirely sure but i don't
believe anywhere do we consider marijuana as narcotic.
i believe some think it dangerous. myself i mostly see
it as subversive.
i have to ask myself the question why this news comes
to me via the PiPress and not the Strib? it's not as
though the Strib did not have room in their
Crime,Courts, and Public Safety column. I think most
of us could have done without knowing about poor
Marcus Pederson who was found slumped over his truck
steering wheel after three days and who appeared to
have died from natural causes. Does the Strib know
something i don't about this case? and how did it fit
into this category? would not it have made more sense
to print that Michael Ivory had been released from
jail. I mean here was a convicted felon, shot by
police while trying to be the middleman either in a
buy of 1/2 pound of marijuana or a robbery attempt,
and now the guy's back on the street. now that's a
story about crime and public safety not some guy dead
at the wheel of his semi.
we not only need new political leaders in this city we
need new editors!!!!!!!!!
