Dear List,
Governor Ventura's interest in merging the
Independence party with the Green Party is part joke
and part insult.
The only Green that our Governor is interested in is
the green in his wallet. The only Green movement that
he is interested in is the movement of greenbacks
toward his wallet. Jesse Ventura has a documented
anti-environment, anti-neighborhood record. He is not
a reform Governor-he is a show Governor. He could
have brought some reform to the completion of HWY 55
in south Mpls, and made it more environmentally
friendly with less neighborhood impact-that is if he
was a reform Governor. But he wasn't. He chose a
special interest friendly bureaucrat-Tinkerbell to
head
MNDOT. He has not been at all friendly to the
environment and the surrounding neighborhoods of the
airport. He is not a reform Governor. He could have
helped with lessening the impact of airport expansion
on the Minnehaha Creek watershed and the surrounding
neighborhood. But no, his appointments to the
MetroCouncil and the Metropolitan Airports Commission
have been far from environmental or neighborhood
friendly. His appointment of Ted Mondale to the be
Met Council Chairman is the greatest insult to
environment and neighborhood concerns. Ted Mondale
paraded an environmental image when he first
campaigned for the Mn State Senate. His solution is
to support the Building Trades interests which
Governor Turnbuckle has been tied to, with an
expensive LRT solution.
The Northeast Mpls Biernat faction was gullible enough
to believe that Jesse Ventura was a reform Governor, I
hope the Green Party is not as gullible to believe
that he is a friend of the environment or
neighborhoods.
The only good out of joining forces with a guy that
has a proven record of fighting against green
interests will be to prop-up the false popular
approval ratings that he has been getting. The mere
fact that he wants to join forces shows how he sees
the public as nothing more than a component of his
"Ventura Show."
