the way that i read the article was that GM was
basically bribing Golden Valley to go along with the
project and fight for it.
the idea about the city council of minneapolis coming
clean about this confuses me.
I know the city of mpls. sells water to golden valley.
i have heard that they pay a rate lower than the
citizens of minneapolis, sort of a wholesale account.
Try as i might i cannot find revenue information in
the budget relative to water. I know the city makes
money on sales to citizens of mpls. what i am
wondering is at what rate do we charge golden valley?
have they gotten a recent rate increase? i suspect
that the city of golden valley turns around and makes
money off the water they have purchased from mpls. oh,
ain't business great.
i hate this sort of thing but it seems to me that
mpls. has considerable leverage in this matter.
best of all of course would be for general mills to
bite the bullet, be a good citizen and comply with the
guidelines.
they could always threaten to move to brookings or
better yet how about austin, texas where the patron
saint of this kind of backscratching crap lives.
