A couple of list-management updates.

*List Directory: hiding and unhiding yourself
*Subscribing from multiple addresses - but only receiving one list message

LIST DIRECTORY

Among the new features, we now have a member directory. It is visible only
to members (so you don't have to worry about spammers getting it). The
directory also has a feature that allows you to hide your membership from
other members. When I transferred existing members' subscriptions, I set
everyone's option to "HIDE." This is because I believe you should control
your privacy, and shouldn't "out" yourself unless you actively want to.

But it's just great if you want to reveal yourself on the directory.
Changing this option is like changing any other. Surf to
http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/mpls. Then go to the Mpls
Subscribers' section and put your address in the box next to the button Edit
Options. At the bottom of the next page, you'll see several gray text-boxes.
In the one titled "Conceal yourself from subscriber list," change the
checked button from Yes to No.

MULTIPLE ADDRESSES, ONE LIST MESSAGE

As some of your ruefully know, the old Minneapolis-list server wouldn't let
you post unless you sent from a subscribed address, but every subscribed
address got list messages. So if you wanted to be able to post from a home
and work address, you had to swallow two of every list post.

No more. You can set your options so some addresses are subscribed but
receive no mail. Again, here's the procedure:

Surf to http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/mpls. Then go to the Mpls
Subscribers' section and put your address in the box next to the button Edit
Options. At the bottom of the next page, you'll see several gray text-boxes.
Turn the one titled "Disable mail delivery" from No to Yes. Do this for all
but one of your subscribed addresses, and you'll only receive one copy of
every list post.

To subscribe new addresses, go to
http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/mpls. The subscribe section is
obvious. Don't check the digest feature. You'll have to follow the "Disable
mail delivery" feature on each new account following the procedure described
in the last paragraph.

Thanks,
David Brauer
List manager
