MNDOT approached the Watershed District last month regarding obtaining their
permit for this project and we discussed improvements to Diamond Lake as a
part of their permit conditions. I discussed this with Dore Mead yesterday
and we will be imitating a neighborhood meeting in the next several weeks to
discuss options. MNDOT will be submitting their permit application in the
next month or so to the Watershed District.

A reminder: when these roads were built 30 years ago we did not have the
same environmental standards we do today. Whenever roads (or buildings) are
re-developed they must meet current standards, resulting in environmental
improvements, as long as the permitting agency requires them. Therefore,
improvements to water quality will occur as a result of the 35W/Crosstown
Project, just as they did with the Highway 55 project.
