Timothy calls for some creative thinking on the 'icy snowy sidew alk'
issue. Passing out tickets is not really needed. The ordinance on
sidewalk clearing provides for city public works shoveling after due
notice has not been responded to with the city costs being added to the
property tax levy against the property. Failure to pay property taxes
can result in city seizure of the property - there are statutes covering
that. Here is my creative idea: if one sees a bad sidewalk situation,
file a complaint, follow-up the complaint, and re-complain until the
sidewalk gets cleared. You will, of course, get labelled as a
troublemaker don at city hall, but if the walks get clear well so be it.
At the same time keep your CCM informed - in fact it might get faster
response to beef to your CCM directly. By email as well as by phone.
