I have come to realize that Progressive Minnesota is more interested in
building it's own little empire than it is in really providing good
endorsement and rating information on candidates about progressive issues.

First, we have a boundary problem in this city. We've got high ranking
officials jumping across corporate and political lines with money flowing
back and forth and no accountability. We don't seem to understand what
"conflict of interest" means in this city. As a progressive organization,
Progressive Minnesota more than anybody should be drawing distinct and
appropriate boundaries in it's endorsing process and particularly not
endorse board members. If we are about trying to solve inappropriate
boundary issues in this city, Progressive Minnesota isn't helping.

Secondly, a good endorsement system would include the publishing of
endorsing criteria and a ratings and evaluation system of each candidate.
To just publish who you endorsed without any backup is a disservice to the
candidates who screened and to those who might want to use the endorsement
in their decision making process.

Over the past two years I have watched Progressive Minnesota primarily
endorsed candidates who were part of their "clique." I've seen good,
progressive candidates shut out for no specific reason. I've seen confusion
over their criteria and positions as candidates try to understand what
Progressive Minnesota wants. And their most recent debacle of endorsing
only one of at least two progressive candidates in the 9th Ward to me just
put the icing on the cake. I am no longer interested in what Progressive
Minnesota has to say on endorsements, unless they make some serious changes
to their process.
