I attended last Saturday's endorsement screenings for Progressive Minnesota. I attended as an observer although I am a member of Progressive Minnesota and could have participated if I chose to. As a candidate, I felt it was more appropriate for me to observe. I observed a fair question and answer process for each candidate. Each candidate had the same amount of time to speak and answered the same questions. Each candidate was made aware of the 12 points of the PM focus and was given time to respond to those issues. The discussions which took place once the candidates were excused were issue based and constructive. I heard no mention of the fact that Michael Guest was a board chair or that Gary Schiff was an ex-staff person of PM. It is my opinion that Michael Guest organized to get a lot of supporters to that meetings. And they were obviously supporters who were also members of PM. As such he was able to garner the required 60% easily. I also believe the candidates interviewed from the 10th ward were all treated fairly and equally. I was not there when the discussions about non-endorsement took place. The convenor, Martha Easton, was very concise and did not allow any candidate more time than another. She was also very good at keeping the group on task. That is just a report from an observer (I didn't say impartial) just an observer. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo!
