The 3 school board seats that are up for election will actually be three
year terms as the Board, a few years ago, decided to bring school board
elections in line with other elections to have a greater voter turn-out and
to save the city money on the cost of running an "off year" election. In
1999, the only election was a school board election, but it still costs
about the same as all other elctions because all voting locations have to
be open even if there is only a handful of voters.
So the school board seats that are up are for 3 years.
