City boundaries are not changing, but I agree with Andy, that its
important to keep the mayoral election in sync with the city council
races to strengthen voter turnout. If this initiative passes, RT should
run again in 2003 with everyone else (good thing they saved those
signs). I wholeheartedly support this legislation, whatever the cost to
the electorate, whatever the inconvenience to the elected. The last
thing we need is more ambiguity and confusion in government. Lets be
clear with the people about who's representing who, and make sure that
everyone is informed about the process. This is fundamental to
democracy, to ignore it for 10 more years would be lousy government.
